Fountain projects are typically custom-built: each one features a unique combination of water patterns, site conditions, and scope of work. The value of the process lies in gradually refining these uncertainties into actionable documentation and equipment. Huiqi Fountains has been engaged in fountain engineering since 2007. Our service process proceeds through six stages—requirements discussion, site survey, design, manufacturing, installation, and operation and maintenance—with clearly defined deliverables for each stage.

An Overview of the Six Stages
The table below breaks down the entire process: what we’re responsible for at each stage, what we need your cooperation on, and what you’ll ultimately receive. The clearer the boundaries of responsibilities are, the less likely a project is to be delayed.
| Stage | We are responsible for | We need your cooperation | Deliverables |
|---|---|---|---|
| 01 Requirements Discussion | Define the project objectives, site conditions, budget range, and scope of work | Project Scope, Site Information, Budget Range | Minutes of the Requirements Confirmation Meeting |
| 02 Site Survey | Measure dimensions; verify utility connections and structural load-bearing conditions | On-site Access Requirements and Points of Contact | Survey Report and Site Conditions Table |
| 03 Schematic Design | Floor Plans, Water Feature Layouts, Renderings, and Cost Estimates | Confirmation of Style and Effect Preferences | Proposal Document, Renderings, Cost Estimate |
| 04 Advancing Manufacturing | Detailed Construction Drawings, Equipment Lists, On-Site Production, and System-Wide Integration Testing | Drawing Approval, Payment by Milestone | Construction Drawings, Equipment List, On-Site Test Records |
| 05 Installation and Commissioning | On-site Installation, Programming, Commissioning, and Defect Correction | On-site water and electricity are in place; the work area has been handed over. | Installation and Commissioning Records, Corrective Action Closure Table |
| 06 Delivery and Operations | Operational Training, Documentation Handover, Warranty Support, and Parts Supply | Designated Receiver and Contact Information | Completion Documentation, Operating Manuals, and Warranty Documents |
Detailed Explanation of Each Stage
01 Discussing Requirements: Start by Answering These Three Questions
Is this fountain intended to be a ”showpiece” or a ”backdrop”? How large is the space, and what is the budget range? Once these three questions are clearly answered, you’ll have a solid basis for all subsequent selection decisions.
02 Site Survey: Aligning the Blueprints with the Site
Measure the actual dimensions, verify the pool’s structure and waterproofing methods, and review the power capacity and water supply and drainage conditions. Many cost deviations stem from insufficient site surveys.
03 Concept Design: First, Finalize the Visuals
We’ll provide the floor plan, water feature layout, lighting design, and renderings all at the same time, along with a cost estimate, so you can balance your preferences between aesthetics and budget.
04 Advanced Manufacturing: Blueprints and On-Site Integrated Testing
Once the design is approved, it is refined into construction drawings and an equipment list. The equipment is manufactured in the factory and undergoes comprehensive integration testing, thereby reducing the need for on-site rework.
05 Installation and Commissioning: On-site Work Is the Key Phase
On-site installation, programming, and repeated test runs. This phase relies most heavily on on-site coordination; whether the water and electricity supplies and the work area are ready directly affects the project schedule.
06 Delivery and Operations: Delivering a Solution That Can Run Long-Term
Upon completion of operational training and the handover of documentation, the warranty period begins. We provide spare parts and technical support, and can offer on-site inspection and maintenance as needed.
Three Things We Need Your Cooperation On
The length of a project depends half on us and half on whether these three things are taken care of in a timely manner. Planning them in advance can usually save a lot of waiting time.
| Items | Why It Matters | Recommended Approach |
|---|---|---|
| All venue information must be complete. | Missing drawings can lead to repeated surveys, and quotes can only be provided as a range. | Prepare the floor plans, electrical and plumbing diagrams, and structural specifications in advance. |
| Decision-making feedback must be prompt | Back-and-forth revisions during the design phase are the most common cause of project delays. | Designate a single point of contact; reach a consensus internally before providing feedback. |
| On-site conditions must be in place | With no electricity or water and the work area not yet handed over, we can't get any work done even if we're on site. | Before commencing work, verify each item on the checklist and confirm it in writing. |
Beyond the scope of standard services
To avoid disputes later on, the ownership of the following items should typically be clarified during the quotation stage. This does not mean ”we are not responsible,” but ratherThe responsibility lies with the civil engineering or landscaping contractor anyway.。
| Project | Does it include | Note |
|---|---|---|
| Civil Engineering and Structural Engineering | Usually does not contain | The civil engineering contractor is responsible for the excavation, construction, and waterproofing of the pool; we provide the equipment load requirements and installation requirements. |
| External Water and Electricity Connections | Usually does not contain | Once the general contractor or MEP contractor receives the designated locations, we will provide the capacity and interface requirements. |
| Landscaping and Greening | Usually does not contain | The landscaping contractor is responsible for the surrounding paving, landscaping, and landscape lighting; proper handover procedures must be followed. |
| Building Permit Applications and Approval | Provide Information | We provide a list of equipment, certificates, and drawings; the construction permit application process is handled by the construction entity. |
| Water Curtain Projection Source | Additional items may be added | The content for water curtain movies typically needs to be produced separately and can be expanded as needed. |
Timeline Reference
| Stage | Cycle Reference | Key Factors |
|---|---|---|
| Concept Design | 7–20 days | Proposal depth, response speed, and whether multiple rounds of comparison are required |
| Equipment Manufacturing | 25–60 days | Number of units; whether non-standard custom parts are included |
| On-site Installation | 15–45 days | Project Scale, Civil Construction Progress, and On-Site Interlocking Work Activities |
| Programming and Debugging | 7–20 days | Number of Programs, Complexity of Programming, and Number of Rounds of Trial Run Adjustments |
The above represents the company’s general reference range; the actual timeline will be determined based on the project’s scale, site conditions, and scope of work.
